On Jan. 5, 2009, The Citadel will go live with a new website. The new website will be more consistent, easier to navigate and more contemporary in appearance.

A 1990 graduate of The Citadel has taken over as commander of the U.S. Navy’s elite flying team, the Blue Angels.

Retired Air Force Col. Edward B. Carter of Dorchester has been elected the new president of The Citadel Alumni Association.

Citadel Biology Professor Alix Darden has been named South Carolina Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

The Citadel Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) donated $10,000 to the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department to purchase equipment that will help instructors improve how they teach. The money was used to purchase student response pads, commonly known as “clickers.”

Updated 11 December 2008 Marine Capt. Warren A. Frank, Citadel Class of 2004, was killed in action while distributing humanitarian aid in the Ninewa province of Iraq Nov. 25.
