Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. Throughout The Citadel’s history, the military college has produced scores of graduates who have selflessly served their country, often giving their lives, to protect our freedom. Employees flocked to the beach house for the 10th Annual Employee Appreciation Day Thursday, May 22. Employees enjoyed the sun and the hamburgers and barbecue (provided by Aramark). Service pins were awarded to those with 10, 20, and 30 years of service; those receiving pins totaled almost 500 dedicated years.
Commencement exercises were held Saturday morning for the S.C. Corps of Cadets. Activities leading up to graduation day included commissioning ceremonies, the Star of the West competition, awards convocation, the baccalaureate service, the Summerall Guard performance, and the Long Gray Line parade.
