Sports are an integral part of The Citadel Summer Camp, which is designed to develop and strengthen the physical, mental, moral, spiritual, patriotic and social characteristics of campers.

More than 100 boys and girls are taking part in the first of The Citadel's two residential summer camps Founded in 1957 by General Mark W. Clark, The Citadel Summer Camp is a for ages 10 to 15.

Campers spend most of their time with their section, attending daily activities, eating meals together, and building camaraderie. While not a "military" camp, the camp does use a structure similar to that of the Corps of Cadets: formations for many of the activities, daily room inspections and a uniform.

Board of Visitors chooses Rosa as president

The Citadel Board of Visitors named Lt. Gen. John W. Rosa Jr. to be The Citadel's 19th president pending his release from active duty.

General, one of two beloved English bulldog mascots at the college, will celebrate his second birthday Monday, June 20. The party is open to the public and will be held in Mark Clark Hall lobby from noon to 1 p.m.
