Under the nighttime lights inside Padgett-Thomas Barracks, yellow tape blocks off an area of the quad where the Bulldog logo is being painted. The "Spike" logo graced the red and white checkboard of the old PT barracks before it was razed and rebuilt.

The South Carolina Corps of Cadets returned to Charleston on Sunday to prepare for the start of classes Wednesday. The first military dress parade is at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Knobs of the Class of 2008 were sworn in Tuesday evening on Summerall Field. A crowd of about 100 people, mostly family and friends, gathered on Summerall Field for the 6 p.m. ceremony.

It was a rainy and muggy Sunday as members of the Class of 2008 and their families moved into the barracks. The 672 freshman who reported will take part in academic orientation on Monday. Military training begins Tuesday.

Despite street flooding caused by an early morning thunderstorm, the Class of 2008 reported to campus Sunday. Fourth class reporting was delayed one day because of Hurricane Charley, which skirted the South Carolina coast with minimal damage on Saturday.

The Citadel welcomed 68 freshmen cadet-athletes Monday as they reported for military training and fall practice. Scenes like this one from last year will be common on campus after the remainder of the Class of 2008 knobs report Aug. 14.
