Yard sale reaches enormous proportions

A stadium sale might be a more appropriate name for the annual Citadel Women's Club Yard Sale. Now in its eighth year, the event features clothes, furniture, electronics, appliances, linens, plants, books, and much more. Employees flocked to a sneak peek on Friday. The sale is open to the public from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 31, in Johnson Hagood Stadium. Proceeds go to support Citadel scholarships.

School's 'in' for summer

Students take advantage of some quiet time to study in the Daniel Library. Summer session I is under way. Summer II begins June 30 for evening students and July 7 for day students.

The South Carolina Corps of Cadets is on summer furlough until August. The Class of 2007 is scheduled to arrive on campus on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Long Gray Line

With their diplomas in hand, the Class of 2003 celebrates its graduation Saturday, May 10, 2003 in McAlister Field House with the traditional hat toss. About 370 cadets and active duty military students took part in commencement activities. For complete graduation news click here.

The Krause Foundation of Los Altos Hills, California has committed to giving $2 million dollars to The Citadel Foundation to support, advance, and endow leadership activities conducted by The Citadel. Bill Krause (pictured here with wife Gay) is a 1963 Citadel graduate.

Seniors march across Summerall Field Friday in their final parade as cadets. Graduation begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in McAlister Field House. Joining cadets was Boo, an English Bulldog, frequent mascot and proud papa of a Bulldog puppy that will move to campus this summer to take on mascot duties with the Corps of Cadets.

Classmates along with the parents of Marine Capt. Benjamin Sammis paid tribute Thursday to the 1996 Citadel graduate who was killed in action in Iraq. Steve and Beth Sammis presented the "Captain Benjamin W. Sammis Class of ’96 Semper Fidelis Sword" to Cadet Robert C. Fiorille.

Fourth class assembles at Marion Square

Members of the fourth class began Recognition Day with a march down to Marion Square at 5 a.m. to listen to Charleston Mayor Joe Riley '64 talk about the historic significance of Marion Square and this day.
