Army Capt. Vince Patenaude (center) of the 151st Signal Battalion, recently presented President Maj. Gen. John Grinalds and Cadet Chad Buckel with a Citadel spirit flag - Big Red - that flew in Iraq. The presentation recognized the efforts of Buckel and the Corps of Cadets in sending holiday care packages to troops, including the Signal Battalion, in the Middle East. Patenaude is also a 2001 graduate of The Citadel's College of Graduate and Professional Studies.

Governor Mark Sanford met with media from around South Carolina Friday morning in Bond Hall to discuss a proposal to allow public colleges and universities to go private if they choose. The press conference is one of several the governor is calling across the state to discuss his budget proposals for the coming year. Click here for the college's statement.

Boo 5, The Citadel's second bulldog mascot, made his debut on campus this week. The 8-week-old puppy, getting some loving here from cadets, joins General, now 6 months old, as the official mascots of the Corps of Cadets.
