With the old year winding down and cadets finishing their exams, faculty and staff joined together at Lt. Gen. and Mrs. John Rosa’s house Tuesday to celebrate the holidays and the end of another great semester.  Even Santa took time out of his busy schedule to attend.

Capt. Warren A. Frank, Citadel Class of 2004, died Nov. 25 while conducting combat operations in Ninewa province, Iraq. He is the 13th Citadel graduate to die in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Citadel salutes all veterans

Veterans Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 11, is an annual American holiday honoring military veterans. Citadel graduates have performed military service for their country in wars since the Mexican War and War Between the States.  Since 2003, nearly 1,300 Citadel cadets and graduates have fought in the war on terror. Twelve made the ultimate sacrifice.


Marines celebrate 233rd birthday

The Marine unit at The Citadel celebrated the Marine Corps' 233rd birthday recently in downtown Charleston. The first birthday ball took place in Philadelphia in 1925. Today the tradition includes a formal cake cutting.

Campus weathers Tropical Storm Hanna

The Citadel campus will return to normal today after Tropical Storm Hanna blew by with strong wind and plenty of rain. Cadets weathered the storm in the barracks and the campus experienced no damage.  Cadets traveling to Clemson for the weekend football matchup against the Tigers left campus Saturday morning. This will be the final update associated with Hanna.
