Cadet Andrew Seth Green has been awarded a Sigma Delta Pi National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society scholarship for a semester of study at Universidad Internacional/The Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies of Cuernavaca, Mexico.

The Citadel Honor Committee officers and battalion representatives have been selected for the 2007-2008 academic year. The cadets, all of whom are rising seniors, will assume their duties April 2.

Todd Garrett, a real estate broker with the Charleston-based Arthur Ravenel Jr. Co. and 1998 graudate of The Citadel, took advantage of his Harvard University master’s degree in public policy and started a lending company that makes small loans to businesswomen living in Iquitos’ poverty-stricken outskirts.

The South Carolina Corps of Cadets will be on spring break through April 1. The next military dress parade is scheduled at 4:20 p.m. Friday, April 13.

Spring break is under way for the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Most have gone home or to warmer climates for sun and surf. The men and women of the rugby teams, however, will spend spring break in tournament play.

The Citadel's Army ROTC program is the distinguished recipient of the 2006 MacArthur Award. The Palmetto Battalion was selected as the best of the larger battalions.

Holocaust survivors to visit campus

Pincus Kolender and Joe Engel, survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp, will discuss their experiences with cadets, faculty and staff at 7 p.m. Thursday in Bond Hall Room 165. Guests of the History Department, Kolender and Engel were in Auschwitz from 1942 to 1945.

Sixty-one juniors have been selected to become members of the 2008 Summerall Guards, a silent precision drill platoon.  The 2008 Summerall Guards made their official debut Saturday during during Corps Day Weekend, the 164th birthday celebration of the founding of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.

Saker Falcons, Black Vultures, Eurasian Kestrels, Barred Owls, and Harris Hawks from the International Center for Birds of Prey, a non profit organization near Charleston, will take part in a demonstration on Summerall Field Thursday morning.

Rain has forced the cancellation of today's military dress parade. The next parade is schedule for Friday, March 16 and Saturday, March 17, which is Corps Day at the college.

A virus is to blame for the gastro-intestinal illness that landed 12 cadets in The Citadel infirmary on March 6, according to lab results received today. All of the cadets have been discharged from the infirmary and have returned to their companies.

Regimental Commander Cadet Col. Tim Devine has received the Medal of the Society of the Cincinnati of South Carolina and Cadet Maj. Paul Keeley has been given the prestigious Gen. Douglas MacArthur Foundation Award.
