The Summerall Guards are on the road again courtesy of alumni who want football fans to see the drill team during halftime of The Citadel's game with the University of Pittsburgh.

The Citadel's web cams are more popular than ever for people interested in seeing what is going on at Johnson Hagood Stadium and on Summerall Field. Starting today web cam users will not be able to move the camera angle but will be able to view the parade.

An unfortunate omission

The Citadel regrets that the Charleston Southern-Citadel football game did not begin with the national anthem last Saturday. This was an unintentional error and steps have been taken to ensure that this does not happen in the future.

Cadets, cheerleaders and Citadel fans from all walks will be out in droves Saturday as The Citadel football team opens the home portion of its 2006 schedule. Kickoff against crosstown rival Charleston Southern University is at 7 p.m. at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
Semper Fi Society launches Friday fundraiser

The Citadel Semper Fidelis Society will hold a silent auction from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in the Mark Clark Hall TV room to raise money for the upcoming Marine Corps Ball. More than 150 autopgraphed books will be available. Featured authors include Gen. Tommy Franks, Nathanial Fick, Rudolf Giuliani, Jeff Shaara, Oliver North and Vince Lomabardi Jr.

The Citadel's Tau Iota Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, has announced the finalists for the third annual Lowcountry Spanish Teacher of the Year award. They are from Bishop England High School, Trident Academy and Academic Magnet High School.
