Funeral services for Army Capt. Daniel William Eggers, Class of '97, who died May 29 in Afghanistan, begin at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 22 at Fort Myer Chapel followed by burial at 10 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery.

Oldest living alumnus passes away

Francis Cordes Ford, who was The Citadel's oldest living alumnus, died Friday, June 11. A member of the Class of 1927, he celebrated his 100th birthday on June 8. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Grace Episcopal Church, Charleston. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Stuhr Funeral Home on Calhoun Street.

The Board of Visitors OKs holding off on further work on Johnson Hagood Stadium until Sept. 30. The delay allows time to explore building a new stadium at Stoney Field but also means the college may have limited stadium seating for two football seasons.

The Citadel Archives and Museum has loaned to Italy the Rome city limits sign acquired by Gen. Mark W. Clark during World War II. The sign is part of an exhibit commemorating the 60th anniversary of Rome's liberation.

A memorial service for fallen Citadel graduate, Army Capt. Daniel W. Eggers, '97, will take place at 11 a.m., Mon., June 7 in Fort Bragg, N.C. at the John F. Kennedy Chapel.
